Lawrence V. Stanton Jr.

COLEBROOK – Lawrence V. Stanton, Jr., 48, of Colebrook, died at his home on Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 3, 2026, after a four-year battle with cancer, and with his family by his side.

He was born on March 4, 1977, in Lancaster, N.H., a son to Lawrence V. Stanton, Sr. and Beverly (Dupont) Stanton. Known by all as "JR", he attended schools in Colebrook, and as a teenager went to work as a truck mechanic for Donald Dostie, for whom he worked many years.

He later did small engine repairs and other mechanic work from his home, and was a true jack-of-all-trades. He worked for the Sibgo Tree company, harvesting Christmas trees and providing mechanic skills there, too, and later he was a farm hand and mechanic for the C. White Dairy Farm in Columbia. JR loved to hunt and fish, and would often help his father in his trapping work.

JR leaves behind his father, Lawrence V. Stanton, Sr., of Colebrook; his mother, Beverly Hill of Lancaster; his sister, Ginny Collins of Colebrook; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and his fiancée, Emily Placey.

There are no public calling hours. The family will have a celebration of JR's life on a later date of which notice will be given.
