Charles Logan Obituary

Charles "Charlie" Floyd Logan born May 11, 1916, in Carroll County, Mississippi.
Died June 26, 2010 (Baptist Hospital, Jackson, MS) He is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Marguerite Pritchett Logan, two daughters, Joyce Simoneaux (Don) of Opelika, AL, and Lisa M. Logan (Brandt) of Tucson, AZ; 4 grandchildren: Becky Macon, Brendon Bryant (Mindy), Jason Bryant, and Annie Logan; 5 great-grandchildren: Jason Joseph Bryant, Sera Bryant, Grace Bryant, Olivia Bryant, and Rayne Bryant; 1 great-great grandchild, Nevaeh Bryant; sisters Rene Brock and Zula Pafford, a brother, Leroy Logan (Sybil).
Charlie graduated valedictorian in 1938 from Sunflower, MS High School, and barber college in Memphis, TN. He attended Ole Miss University extension college completing two years in Business Administration. Charlie worked as a barber, owned Logan's Barber Shops in Canton, MS and Jackson, MS, from 1946 to 1987. He was a proud veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy as an Aviation Machinist's Mate two years on Tinin Island in the South Pacific. Charlie was a member and past Post Commander of VFW Post #6809, Ridgeland, MS; past president of the Mississippi Barber's Association; a member and deacon of Colonial Heights Baptist Church in Jackson from 1957 until his death. He loved people and was always willing to help anyone in need. He rescued people and helped rebuild houses after the 1976 Jackson flood. Charlie and Marguerite enjoyed traveling all over the United States Canada, and Europe.
Pallbearers: Joe Ulmer, Obie Germany, Brendon Bryant, Jason Bryant, Jason Joseph Bryant, Brandt Sleeper, Don Simoneaux, Joe Bryant.
Funeral services are at Colonial Heights Baptist Church Tuesday, June 29 with visitation from 12 – 2 pm and services at 2 pm, interment will be at Parkway Memorial Cemetery.
Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home, 1161 Highland Colony Parkway, Ridgeland, MS, 601-352-3632, is in charge of arrangements.

What special memories I have as a small child at Logan's barber shop in Maywood Mart...Mr. Logan would open the Coke machine and share with me an icy 10 oz Coke...Mr. Logan always with a smile and encouraging way about him.
