Chase Lanke Obituary

Chase Aaron Lanke

Mobile, AL - Chase Aaron Lanke, 25, of Mobile, Alabama, died Monday, July 30, 2018, at his residence.

Chase was born on June 4, 1993, in Birmingham, Alabama, to Melody Carr Lanke and Robert Richard Lanke. He grew up in Madison, Mississippi, and attended Madison Central High School where he excelled in athletics and academics. He enjoyed kickball, cross-country and soccer, was a National Merit Scholar Finalist and a 2011 honors graduate. Chase was also an active member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Madison.

Chase attended the University of Alabama on a Presidential Scholarship where he graduated summa cum laude in 2015, earning a degree in chemical engineering. He was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity. Following college, Chase moved to Mobile, Alabama, to follow in his grandfather's footsteps to work in the steel industry as a process engineer with AM/NS Calvert.

Chase loved Mobile, his neighborhood, cooking, running, soccer, kickball, and was an active member of Mystics of Time Mardi Gras Association. But most of all, Chase enjoyed a tight-knit group of friends and colleagues who often described him as the life of the party and loving friend, who often referred to him as "Chaz".

Chase was a wonderful and loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend. He had an infectious personality and his smile could light up any room. He will be missed dearly. Chase was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ernest "Bud" Carr and Betty Dickey Carr; and his uncle, Glynn "Bubba" Carr.

He is survived by his mother, Melody Carr Lanke, of Madison; father, Robert Richard Lanke, of Jackson; brothers, Drew Thomas Lanke and Rob Michael Lanke, both of Madison; paternal grandparents, Richard and Beverly Lanke, of Columbus, MS; his aunts and uncles: Lynn and Paul Stephens, of Jacksonville, FL; Steve and Ramona Carr, of Scottsboro, AL; Casey Carr, of Chattanooga, TN; Cindy and Jefri Huerkamp, of Birmingham; Scott and Patty Collins, of Columbus, MS; cousins: Todd Stephens, of San Diego; Nikki Roberts, Matthew Carr, both of Chattanooga, TN; Chris Carr, of Nashville; Austin Huerkamp, of Atlanta; Jenna Huerkamp, of Birmingham; Matthew Lanke, of Jackson; and a host of other relatives, colleagues, and many friends.

Friends are invited to a visitation with the family from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, August 3, 2018, at Ridgecrest Baptist Church, 7469 Old Canton Rd. in Madison. Funeral services for Chase will be held at Ridgecrest Baptist Church at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 4, 2018, with Stacy Andrews officiating. Graveside services will follow at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Vance, Alabama.

Pallbearers will be Mitchell Sistrunk, Matt Pettit, Daniel McCracken, Will Scott, John D. Chapman, Jacob McDill, Sam Zanaty, and Ross Kirk.

Honorary pallbearers will be Spencer Austin, Will Vickery, Zachary Perkins, Daniel Musslewhite, Jeremiah Harwell, Benson Truitt, Andrew Degenova, David Harris, Drew Maddox, Will Price, and Skylar O'Kelly.

We were so sorry reading about Chase passing away. I knew the Carr family in Bessemer, living across the street for 10 years. Melody and Cindy baby sat my two boys and their mom my boys called "grandmother"! The 2 girls and Betty were like family and my boys made the Carr home their 2nd home. I know Chase was knocked out of the same mold and was a terrific child and young man., We lost a child at 33 and I was privileged to have know him 15 of those years. So we know what you are going through and know the pain you must feel. Thankfully Chase grew up in your Church and we as believers know Chase is with our Lord. We have all the Lanke and Carr families in our prayers. We pray the Comforter we know will reach down and touch your hearts and minds in this time of need, Please know we are holding each of you up in our prayers in these days to come. WE love you, Jeff and Karen,
