Eleanor Caslick Scott, 88, went home to be with the Lord on April 21, 2017. A funeral service will be held at 9:00 A.M. Saturday, May 13, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church in Jackson with burial following in Clinton Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2017 in the Greeting Courtyard at First Presbyterian Church. She was born on August 31, 1928, in Paris Kentucky, to Edward Albert and Margaret Elizabeth Caslick. She married Jack Brown Scott of Greensboro, NC, in 1954 and remained faithfully married to him until his death in June 2011. She is survived by their children, Ann Wiley Scott of Ridgeland, Edward Allen and Charlotte Anderson Scott of Ridgeland, Caroline Brown Scott of Chattanooga, TN, and John Thomas and Holly Roub Scott of Macon, GA, their grandchildren, Joe and Antigone Zorbino of Fayetteville, AR, Blake and Austin Scott of Ridgeland, and Will, Mark, Andrew, and Katie Scott of Macon, GA. Her sister and only sibling, Marie C. Rogers, of Lexington, KY, survived her but sadly passed away one week later on April 28, 2017.

Eleanor graduated from Paris High School and later from Vanderbilt University with a degree in nursing. After further training in nursing and itinerating to supporting churches, she left America to be a medical missionary in Korea in the fall of 1953, not long after the war had ended. While there she met Jack, who was serving as a church planting missionary with the Presbyterian Church. The two married while in Korea before returning to the United States in 1957. The family settled first in Springfield, KY, and later moved to Clinton, MS, where they lived from 1961 to 1977. Jack pastored the Mt. Salus Presbyterian Church in Clinton and later helped found the Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson. Eleanor served her family as a wife and mother while also working as an ICU nurse at Hinds General Hospital (now Merit Health Central). They later lived in Montgomery, AL, and Stone Mountain, GA, before returning to Jackson in 1986 where she and Jack had lived ever since. A longtime member of First Presbyterian Church, Jackson, she later attended Pear Orchard Presbyterian Church in Ridgeland until poor health prevented her from getting out.

Eleanor Scott loved her husband, children, and grandchildren, her sister and all of her children. She also loved the God of the Bible, her Savior Jesus, and the Word of God, the Bible. Over the years and in many churches she helped at Vacation Bible School, encouraged church members through visitation, participated in women's groups, and organized fellowship gatherings for friends and fellow church members. She took particular joy in singing "Jesus Loves Me" in Korean to children who visited her home. One of the first verses she shared with her soon-to-be husband after they met in Korea, Joshua 1:9, amply describes her character and approach to life: "Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go."
