George D. Hatcher

Shelby, MS

A celebration of life service for George Duncan Hatcher, 63, of Shelby, MS will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, June 23, 2013 at Boone-Card Funeral Home, Indianola. He died June 20, 2013, at Germantown Methodist Hospital. Interment will follow later at the Indianola City Cemetery in the Mosby/Hatcher family plots. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone-Card Funeral Home, Indianola.

He was the son of John Andrew "Jack" Hatcher, Sr. and Elizabeth Anne Mosby Hatcher, who predeceased him. He was born December 12, 1949, in Jackson, Mississippi, and lived most of his youth in Sunflower County, Mississippi, attending Indianola Elementary School and graduating from Drew High School. He graduated from Delta State College. He had worked for the Mississippi State Tax Commission, the Internal Revenue Service and as an air traffic controller for the Federal Aviation Administration and later as an oil and gas land man. At the time of his death, he was residing in Shelby, Mississippi. He was a Methodist.

He is survived by his son, Cody Michael Hatcher of Memphis,Tennessee; a grandson,Cody Michael Stumbo of Somerville, Tennessee; a very special friend, Linda Balducci of Shelby, Mississippi; three siblings: John A. Hatcher, Jr. (wife Kathy) of Booneville, Mississippi, Mary Anne Hatcher McCullough (husband Charles) of Clinton, Mississippi, and Harold Hatcher (wife Lee) of Katy, Texas; nieces: Bethany Hatcher, Rachel Hatcher and Michelle Hatcher Mangum, nephew Charlie McCullough, with nephew Matthew Hatcher predeceasing him; step-child Melissa Nichols Cookston (husband Pete and step-granddaughter Lauren) of Hernando, Mississippi; step-son Mark Nichols (wife Kelly and step-grandchildren: Jacob Nichols, Audrey Nichols and Chad Nichols).

There will be a visitation one hour prior to services at Boone-Card Funeral Home, Indianola.
