Junius David McIntyre, 74, passed away at home after a short illness on January 27, 2017. A Celebration of life of service for friends and family will be held at St. Columb's Episcopal Church, 550 Sunnybrook Road in Ridgeland, MS on Tuesday. January 31, 2017. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM and Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. A committal service will follow in the memorial garden columbarium.

David was born in Vicksburg, MS, on January 12, 1943, to Junius Ignatious and Laura McIntyre. He graduated from St. Aloysius High School and the University of Southern MS. David made a lifetime career with the MS Employment Security Commission. Upon his retirement in 2004, he continued his life of service with St. Columb's Episcopal Church, IONA House Food Pantry and the National Association of Mental Illness. He was a member and President of MS International Personnel in Employment Service and was awarded MS IAPESter of the year. He was also awarded the Dept of Rehabilitation Services Community Services Award.

David dedicated his life to serving his fellow man. He lived by the motto "He is not heavy, he's my brother." He loved life and spread his positive attitude through his famous stories and anecdotes. He treasured his family, good friends and good food.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Laura Hanisee, sister, Betty Middleton and brother, Jimmy McIntyre.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Pat; children, Tim McIntyre and Erin Grice (Brad) and three beautiful grandchildren Eva June, Hattie Grace and Bradford Harris.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Columb's Episcopal Church Building Fund or St. Columb's IONA Food Pantry.
