Lamar Bennett Obituary
A native of Ludlow, Mr. Bennett lived in Jackson for 20 years where he was employed by the Borden Co. for 15 years. He has lived in Madison County since 1961 and was retired owner and operator of Bennett's Grocery for 22 years. Mr. Bennett was also a cattle farmer. He was a member of Canton Christian Center.
Survivors include: wife, Audrey Renfroe Bennett; daughter, Marty Bennett Hopkins of Sterling, VA; brother, James Reginald Bennett of Germany; sisters, Bonnie Menear of Ridgeland and Betty Nell Simpson of Dallas, TX; grandchild, Elizabeth Collette Herrington of Sterling, VA; and great-grandchildren, Jose Alfredo deLeon, Jr. and Eric Lawson deLeon.
Memorials may be made to Canton Christian Center, 2736 S. Liberty St., Canton, MS 39046.

Mr. Bennett was such a sweet man that gave of himself to others. I remember when we used to go to your house on Halloween and Mr. Bennett would take us on a hay ride.
He was such a gentleman , always.
I love you ,Mrs. Bennett and pray for you to have comfort and peace in the days ahead. It is a comfort to know he is with our Lord Jesus. Love, Louise

I remember visiting the Bennetts many years ago when the children were small, and we were able to ride one of his horses he had in the field. I have a photograph of him leading us around. He was a wonderful farmer, and loved fresh vegtables from his garden. The example I have always had of the Bennetts is their deep committed love for one another, their work ethic, their generosity to so many, and how they always wanted to help those in need. I know it must be so difficult to be with someone for so many years and now they are gone. And that makes me terribly sad for her. I am praying for them both at this time, for their families, for Collette & Marty and for the boys, Jose and Eric. My love and prayers go out to you all. God Bless.

I am sorry to hear of Mr. Bennett's passing but know that he has now gone home and is definitely okay. I am glad that it was my pleasure to have known him and attend church with him for several years while living in Canton. He loved the Lord and was a fine christian man.
