New Orleans, LA

Lana Carol Weeks (formerly Cannon), 72, passed peacefully on December 1, 2016. Born in Jackson, MS to Charles and Ruby Weeks (nee Brock). Graduate of Murrah High School and Millsaps College, with a Master's Degree in Social Work from Louisiana State University. Worked for many years in Child Protective Services for the State of Louisiana. Gifted pianist and vocalist, long-time member of Symphony Chorus of New Orleans. Former member of Gentilly United Methodist Church and St. Mark's United Methodist Church in New Orleans. Will be missed by sisters Martha Weeks of Irmo, SC and Rebecca Alexander of Kilgore, TX, former husband Steve Cannon of Citronelle, AL, children Sean Cannon and wife Sabine of Mandeville, LA, Charles Cannon and wife Laura of New Orleans, LA, Jennifer Cannon of Northampton, MA, grandchildren Sarah, Laura, Camilla, Russell, Belle, Diana, Amelia and Ian, many nieces and nephews, and her beloved cat Sylvie. Memorial service to be held on a later date, to be announced on www.schoenfh.com. Arrangements by JACOB SCHOEN & SON FUNERAL HOME.
