I knew Michael when he was 8, 9, and 10 in Spencer, IA. My sister played with Sharon then and we promised to look each other up after they moved. I now have. Sorry not to have talked to him sooner. He was an early friend.

Linda, Matthew and Lauren and family:
I was not able to attend the funeral due to a previous engagement. My prayers have been with each of you and all who loved Michael. I know I have never known a man of greater integrity. His smile told it all to me.
Thank you for the loving care you give him always and forever to come. May each of you be blessed as we recall his history and may you know of his love and care that will still hold on to you forever.

I had the pleasure of working with Mr. Raff on the Thalia Mara Hall Renovation in 2014. Without his leadership and vision, the project would not have happened. He was a leader that brought together groups of all kinds and got results. As a resident of Jackson, I am very thankful for all Mr. Raff accomplished; not only for the City of Jackson but for the local residents as well. He will be sorely missed. May the Lord bless the family during this difficult time

Michael was a kind and gentle man. Over the years when i saw his face and his smile I saw myself at 18, and what our lives were then...in South Bend, St. Marys/ Notre Dame. I will miss him....so many will. Love and sympathy to Linda and Lauren and Matthew and their families.

Dear Linda - We were so sad to learn of the death of your dear Michael. He was certainly admired by so many people in so many varied and different circumstances. What a legend he leaves his children and grandchildren. And as the saying goes, behind every great man stands a great woman! You made such a wonderful team and we know you will miss your sidekick so very much. But we Christians must take solace in the fact that we will ALL be reunited someday in the Heavenly Courts. Michael certainly earned his place in Heaven! God surely welcomed him home with the words: Well done, my good and faithful servant...'. Much love to you and your loved ones.

Michael was one of the most compassionate men I have ever met -- not only to the most vulnerable -- bu to all he met. He was always very affirming. I will forever cherish working directly with Michael during Katrina. He was everywhere, finding the most vulnerable.
To know Michael was to have a sense of what our wonderful, loving, joyful God must be like. He and Linda taught me much during my time in Mississippi. I am most grateful.
