Kenneth Earl Gilmore, 90, of Eufaula, Alabama, died Sunday, August 17, 2025, at Medical Center Barbour.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 21, 2025, at 2 P.M., at Sardis Freewill Baptist Church with Rev.'s Joey McCreight, Deron Shuler, Jay Shuler and Jimmy Millsaps officiating. Burial will follow in the Sardis Cemetery with Chapman Funeral Home directing. The visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. at Chapman Funeral Home.
Earl faithfully served his country as a member of the Alabama National Guard. Following his service, he dedicated 47 years to Harbison Walker, where he retired with distinction. A devoted public servant, he was a Barbour County Commissioner for 37 years, including more than 20 years as Chairman. Throughout his decades of service, he poured his heart into his work, always expressing his deep love for Barbour County and its people. His commitment to his community was evident in every decision he made and every role he fulfilled. His leadership extended across many organizations, having served on the board of the Alabama Regional Council on Aging, Southeast Regional Planning, Wiregrass Mental Health and Resource Conservation and Development. A man of strong faith, Earl was a member of Sardis Freewill Baptist Church, where he served as trustee. His life was marked by service to his county, church and family, leaving behind a lasting legacy of dedication, leadership and love for his community. Earl was preceded in death by his grandson, Trace Reeves.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years: Jeanne Gilmore; 3 daughters: Kim (Mark) Fleetwood, Kelly (Deron) Shuler, Frannie (Jay) Morrison; 5 grandchildren: Ireland Fleetwood, Kelsey (Jonathan) Davis, Jay (Charli) Shuler, Taylor Morrison, Jayce Morrison; 4 great grandchildren: Hayden Davis, Kennedy Davis, Charlotte Shuler, Clara Shuler; 1 brother: Bryan (Juleen) Gilmore; 2 sisters: Martha Cody (Don May), Mary Bufkin.
Active pallbearers will be Jayce Morrison, Jonathan Davis, Hayden Davis, Skeeter Cody, Mike Cody, Todd Bridges, Blake Cody, Britt Gilmore. Honorary pallbearers will be Stanley Jones, Chris Trammell, Sam Halstead, Bobby Taylor, Kendall Cooper.
