Raymond Schleicher Obituary

In life, Raymond Schleicher was a Renaissance man. Old school through and through. His passion was his desire to embrace life. He was an epicurean, a contractor, bartender, ski instructor, and devoted husband and father.
His passion was to become a writer, but life altered that course. He started roofing at an early age, then served in the Korean War with the 101st Airborne.
Life travels brought him through Colorado, where he vowed to return. He did so, to become a Vail Pioneer, bartender and general contractor. He relocated to Georgetown in 1973 to add restaurant owner to his repertoire, the Crazy Horse, followed by the Alpine Inn and Hard Rock Café.
In his retirement, he was the beloved seasonal maintenance man for Camp Shwayder until his death.
He was also a Master Mason with Georgetown Lodge No. 12.
Born in Middle Village, Long Island, he was the fourth of five children born to Albert and Josephine Schleicher, now all deceased.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Christine, their two children Sophie and Wolf; his first wife, Bernie, and their daughter, Natja; sisters-in-law Renae, Valerie (Jason), and Ella (Peter); brother-in-law Jason (Ayumi); his mother-in-law Janice; his Colorado relocated niece, Karen, (Reggie), her siblings and a host of nieces and nephews; plus extensive family, and friends in New York and worldwide.
Services will be held Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, at 12:30 p.m. at the Methodist Church in Silver Plume followed by interment at the Georgetown Alvarado Cemetery and a potluck reception to follow at the Easter Seals Camp next to the cemetery.
Memorial gifts may be made to the family.

Condolences to Rays family. We knew Ray and his family in Queens Village NYC. I worked one summer with Ray and his brothers as a roofers helper. The hardest work I ever did.
