LeRoy was born April 5, 1940, in Columbus, Nebraska to Charles and Marie (Peca) Kracl. He attended Rural District 16 and graduated from Schuyler High School in 1958. On April 6, 1961, he married his high school sweetheart, Mary Ann Sindelar at St. Mary's Catholic church in Schuyler. He served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1964. After basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri, he served at Fort Gordon in Georgia and resided in nearby Augusta for two years. LeRoy was in the signal corps where he excelled at Morse code and teletype. He was so proficient in these capabilities that he was appointed to teach new recruits these skills. He was nearly called to serve his country during the Cuban Missile Crisis where he may have been one of the first to see aerial photos of Cuba. When he and Mary Ann moved back to Schuyler, he farmed for 21 years and then worked for Breslau Construction where he learned a new passion, driving tractor trailers. He drove for Skyline, GM Express and then ended his career with Sky Hawk. He was a member of Divine Mercy Parish and was very active at St. Mary's, serving as a lector, the Rosary Crusade and was an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing, yard work, horseback riding, bowling and playing cards. He and Mary Ann loved to travel, and saw much of the United States, as well as parts of Canada and Mexico. He also loved visiting museums, reading Western novels and watching the old westerns on TV. LeRoy loved to visit and was a regular at local coffee groups over the years. He loved nothing more than time spent with his family. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Ann of Schuyler, one daughter, Jeanine (Joel) Stearns, son Brian (Bethany) Kracl, brother Stanely "Butch" (Aggie) Kracl, four grandchildren; Cody Stearns, Myla, Eli and Bohdan Kracl, and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by parents Charles and Marie (Peca) Kracl, parents-in-law Bohous and Wilma (Hobza) Sindelar and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Stearns.
