Michael Podraza Obituary

COLUMBUS - Michael "Mike" Podraza Jr., 79, of Columbus, died Sunday, Aug. 7, 2005, at Beverly Healthcare in Columbus.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Bonaventure Church in Columbus, with the Rev. Tim Podraza officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. vigil, and from 8-10 a.m. Thursday, all at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus.

Mr. Podraza was born June 26, 1926, in Columbus, to Mike Sr. and Adelaide "Delia" (Valasek) Podraza. He attended rural school in Shelby and graduated from Kramer High School in Columbus.

He married Lorraine Kobus July 28, 1948, in Columbus. He farmed part-time and worked at Becton-Dickinson for over 30 years until retiring.

He was a member of the church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife of Columbus; two daughters, Linda Wangler and Joyce (Jim) Moore, both of Columbus; three sons, Allen (Mary) Podraza, Robert (Kathy) Podraza, both of Columbus, and the Rev. Tim Podraza of Wisner; three brothers, Henry (Mary Ann) Podraza, Tom (Mary Lou) Podraza, both of Columbus, and Richard (Dolores) Podraza of Omaha; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, David Podraza; and one sister, Anna Marie Podraza.

Memorials may be directed to St. Bonaventure Church.
