Cousin, mentor, confidant, but above all, my friend. I have missed him terribly and will for the rest of my life. My life is richer because of him, in so many ways.

My life is better because I had the honor of meeting and being a friend of Dudley Davis Jr. To know Dudley was to be in the presence of a kind caring and brilliantly gifted and true gentleman. To Angie and Dudley’s entire family I am so sorry . We have all been blessed to have had Dudley touch our lives

Dudley was an extraordinary artist, host, naturalist, farmer, teacher, community builder, folklorist, and friend. We met at sidewalk art show in Oxford MS in 1992, and he was a friend to my husband, John Bensko, and me ever since. He awakened others to the glories of nature, especially his beloved Skuna Bottom. He connected people and created opportunities for others, and he leaves a generous, original, and distinctive cultural legacy. He had a wonderful Mississippi voice. I remember his rich, deep laughter ringing through the woods while he gathered running cedar and other greenery at Christmas time. John and I send our heartfelt sympathy to his niece, Angie, and all of his family. We will dearly miss him.

My deepest sympathies. Dudley left a special place in my heart as he did so many who had the honor of knowing him. We shred a love of natural objects and especially Horn Island. My life is richer for having known him as a friend.

So sorry. Dudley was such a good, kind, loving person, and helped more people than anybody I know. Also, talented, generous. Not enough adjectives to describe him. He's run a good race and fought a good fight. It is an honor to call him my friend. REST IN PEACE.
