Beverly Moor Obituary
Beverly Ann Colbroth Moor
Darien, IL - Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Beverly Ann Colbroth Moor, 89, of Darien, IL, passed away on January 15, 2025. Throughout her life, Beverly nurtured her family and developed her passions for music, travel, and learning. She was born in Amesbury, MA, on September 22, 1935 to Preston William Colbroth and Helen Elizabeth Whittier Dudley Colbroth. Raised in Concord, NH, Beverly was valedictorian of the Concord High School Class of 1953. At Colby College in Waterville, ME, from which she graduated in 1957, she pursued studies in French and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
While starting a teaching career in Williamstown, MA, Beverly met the love of her life, Roy Edward Moor, a professor at Williams College, on a blind date. They were married in 1959 and became parents to two daughters. Moving from Washington, D.C., to Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Illinois, Roy and Bev enjoyed raising their daughters, taking travel adventures together, designing and constructing two of their homes, and keeping in touch with lifelong friends. They were married for 48 years until his passing in 2008.
As an empty nester, and later as a widow, Beverly devoted her time to classical music, continuing education, and travel. She sang alto with the Festival Chorus in Palatine, IL, for over three decades and was an avid supporter of musical education and performance throughout the Chicago area. She relished her time together with friends at the Institute for Continued Learning in Schaumburg, IL, for many years, and she continued to travel domestically and internationally until she was limited by illness in 2021.
Beverly is survived by her sister, Sharon Colbroth; her daughters, Cindi (Kevin) Young and Sheri Moor; grandsons Chris, Jason, and Alex Young; and great granddaughter Kianna Young. Beverly was cremated, according to her wishes. A memorial service will be planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Beverly's memory to Chicago's classical music station, WFMT; The Festival Chorus at Harper College; or to another non-profit. Bev, Mib, Grandmib will live forever in our hearts.
