Blair MacLean Obituary

Blair MacLean

Concord, NH - Blair (Bamford) MacLean, a lifelong Concord resident, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at the age of 82. Blair was known for her energetic and curious spirit, her devotion as a caregiver to her family, and her loyalty as a friend. She was admired by many for her strength, patience, and spunk.

The daughter of Alfred and Mae Bamford, Blair grew up in a brick house on Wildemere Terrace, built by her father, alongside her younger siblings Lynn and Carl. As a girl, she enjoyed ice skating at White Park and singing in the choir with her youth fellowship. When her mother tragically passed away when Blair was just a toddler, she developed a deep bond with her father, a kind and intelligent man whom she adored.

Blair was a proud graduate of Concord High School ('60) and maintained strong friendships with her classmates throughout her life. While in typing class during her sophomore year, she met the love of her life, Larry MacLean. They married in 1962 and had two children: a daughter, Laurie Ann, and a son, Raymond Allen. Nothing made Blair happier than her children, and she proudly kept every one of their report cards, trophies, and achievements until her passing. She often joked that while other young mothers might have used an extra hour in their day to cook or clean, she'd rather take her children for a walk down Main Street to spend quality time together wandering her beloved hometown. That adventurous spirit led her far from Concord as she traveled the world, a passion she generously shared with her family on countless trips. Exploring new cities, trying new restaurants, and enjoying these moments with loved ones brought her immense joy.

Blair and Larry founded MacLean-Stevens Studios, a school portrait and photography business that became the largest family-owned business of its kind in New England. Blair was immensely proud of their 42 years in business and regarded many of her employees as family and friends long after the company closed its doors in 2005. While many would have chosen to slow down in retirement, Blair embraced this time as one of renewal and growth. It became one of the happiest seasons of her life. She chose to end her marriage with Larry, followed in her father's footsteps to become a dedicated landlord, and even built her own home on Hampton Beach. She also became an avid gardener and a devoted Patriots fan. Above all, she embraced her role as Grandma to Laurie's daughter, Christina Blair. Blair was always finding new ways to teach, encourage, and celebrate Christina, and their bond was a gift she treasured. Blair was incredibly grateful for her closeness to Christina, her daughter Laurie, and son-in-law Wade. Her family was her life's greatest achievement.

Blair is survived by her daughter Laurie MacLean Warriner and son-in-law Wade Warriner, son Ray MacLean, granddaughter Christina Warriner, and Christina's fiancé, Eric Hamilton. She also leaves behind her nephews Tom Flynn and Jon Flynn, many friends who became family, and her beloved South End neighbors.

As per her wishes, there will be no visiting hours, and a private service and burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Concord. Her family is privately inviting loved ones to a celebration of her life.

I was always lucky enough to see Blair once or twice a year at Stavros´ family reunions. She always had great stories, a quick wit and a sincere interest in what was going on in your life. Blair, I am picturing you sharing a laugh in heaven right now with your old friend Pat. Rest in Peace.
