PEMBROKE – Conrad M. "Doc" Carantit, 82, of Woodlawn Ridge Road passed away Sunday, Nov. 22, 2015, at Concord Hospital. The Carantit Family would like to extend the warmest thanks to the staff in the Emergency Room, the ICU and the PCU for the awesome care they provided for Dad!
Doc was born in Mapandan Pangasinan Philippines, the son of the late Enrique and Maria (Macanlalay) Carantit.
After graduating medical school from the The Pontifical and Royal University of Santo Tomas, The Catholic University of the Philippines, or simply the University of Santo Tomas, Dr. Carantit migrated to Boston in 1957 where he interned at many of the Greater Boston Hospitals before accepting a position at Concord Hospital in 1967. Dr. Carantit or "Doc", as Concord nicknamed him, served Concord Hospital for 35 years as a Pathologist. Doc worked for many years as the Chief Pathologist at Concord Hospital. Before, during and after his retirement he owned and operated several businesses including CitySide grille on Manchester Street which his family still runs today. Doc loved Concord and touched so many peoples' lives. He will be dearly missed!
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two sons, Christopher Carantit and Enrique Carantit and a brother, Roland M. Carantit.
He is survived by his wife, Diane (Albitz) Carantit of Concord; and his eight children, Marene Carlos and her husband, George of the Philippines, Conrad S. Carantit of Pembroke and his wife, Elizabeth Vergeire, Linda Turner and her husband, Terry of Richmond, Va., Roland C. Carantit and his wife, Toni Sisti of Concord, Jeffrey Carantit and his wife, Julie of Hawley, Mass., Elena Arietta of Florence, Mass., Tyler Carantit and his wife, Laurie of Littleton, Colo. and Maria Carantit and her husband, Mike Simmons of Seattle; 20 grandchildren, Hazel Kelly, Karlo Zaragoza, Nicole Carlos, Stacey Chen, Samantha Carantit, Shannon Carantit, Shaun Carantit, Jennifer Manus, Ryan Turner, Tristin Turner, Jeremy Turner, Angel Drage, Samantha Spina, Anthony Carantit, Christopher Carantit, Cameron Carantit, Alyssa Arietta, Dominic Arietta, Grace Carantit and Sydney Carantit; 11 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is also survived by his poker buddies of 35 years, Mike, John, Jimmy, Paul and Ernie.
Memorial mass will be celebrated on Friday, Jan. 22, at 4 p.m. at Christ the King Church/St. John's, 72 South Main St., Concord.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made in the name of Dr. Conrad M. Carantit to support the electro-physiology program at Concord Hospital Center for Cardiac Care.
