Douglas Abbott Obituary

Douglas J. Abbott

Concord, NH - In memory of Douglas J. Abbott, 57, who passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, April 14, 2023 following a five year battle with cancer.

Douglas, who is referred to as "Doughboy" was born on March 16, 1966 to Rodney Sr. and Shirley (Dorval) Abbott. He enjoyed Metallica, the Jerry Springer Show, the Goonies movie, wrestling, and the Cleveland Browns football team… but what made him lovable was his big heart and the way he cared for all family members.

He is predeceased by his father, Rodney Abbott, Sr. and three brothers: Rodney Jr., Norman, and David Abbott. We'd like to think he's drinking a Natural Light with his closest friend, Gregory "Nightrider" Knight, who passed on in 2020, in Heaven.

Douglas is survived by his mother, Shirley, and her partner, Donald Paige.

He will also be missed by his remaining siblings and their spouses, all which he saw as his own brothers, as well: Jeffrey, Keith, Tony, Linda, Debora (and Harry), Victoria (and Mike), Lisa, Sherry (and Benoit "Bundy!"), Christine, Shirley (and Duane) and two of his close friends, Doug Hynes and Mike Sherman. Many nieces and nephews will also remember him with love.

He would also want us to thank the Payson Center doctors and nurses who treated, namely Dr. Gina Divenuti and Dr. Bryan Rowe and their staff.

Doug was such a kind man with a smile you couldn't possibly forget who had a positive attitude even throughout the hardest points of his life. We'll all miss him dearly, and will be thinking about him always.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 10:00 AM at the Soucook Cemetery in Concord.

Doug was a gentle, kind spirited soul. His genuine love for friendship and family was what Doug lived for. I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to get to know Doug. I am so sorry to the Abbott Family, for their loss. I know Greg and Doug are talking about the weather, Mopar, and thanking God their years of splitting and stacking wood are a thing of the past, unless Heaven has trees, and if that is the case, Doug is fixing Greg's Chainsaw and they are buzzing down trees and stacking the piles a mile high. Although I was never a Cleveland Browns Fan, I will forever be found of that team because, It will forever remind me of Doug.
We are sending prayers from the Manning Family to the entire Abbott Family.

When I bought the Cuda, many years ago, it came with no Radiator. I didn't have the money for a new one, and Doug took the Radiator from his Satellite and gave it to me so I could drive it. Thank You Doug for your Kindness and Generosity

Sherry and Bundy, I'm sorry to hear of Doug's passing. When we worked together at CCPI, we had some great times. I'll never forget carrying him out to the truck at 6am. He wasn't going to get out of shoeing on those days. My thoughts are with you.
