Douglas Cailler Obituary

Douglas J. Cailler, 63, of West Street, died peacefully Thursday, July 3rd, 2014, at Concord Hospital after a long illness. He was born in Concord, December 6th, 1950, son of Leo J. Cailler and Ann (Prescott) Wallace.

After graduating high school he served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Douglas owned and operated Cailler's Auto on South Main Street in Concord until retiring in 2009. He had a passion for restoring vehicles and raced Pro 4 race cars at Star Speedway and other tracks through-out the state. He took pride in the work that he did and was known not only for his skill but for the relationships he built with his customers, many of them returning for each of the 34 years he ran the garage.

After retiring Douglas took time to work on projects around the house and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a kind man, cherished by his family and friends, and he will be missed.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his step-father, Ronald Wallace; four children, Zac Cailler of Kissimmee Fla., Wendy Cailler of Penacook, Joe Cailler of Campton and Katie Cailler of Concord; four grandchildren, Nathan, Gage, Charlotte and Caroline; and one sister, Lee Ann Currier.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, July 19, at 10 a.m. at Waters Funeral Home, 50 South Main St. in Concord.

Burial at the Soucook Cemetery in Concord will be held at the convenience of the family.

There will be no visiting hours.

Ann, Lee and kids-I was so sorry to hear of Doug's passing. Doug really was an honest man as all his customers will tell you which I saw first hand. He was a kind man and a good father. He will be missed by many and will be in our thoughts and prayers. Again, I am so sorry for the loss of your son, brother and father. Thinking of you all.

Growing up here, into our teen years and beyond, Dougie was more respected by more people, than anyone. He earned that respect with his hard work, his honest humility, his gentle and careful manner, his amazing strength, his keen intellect, his sharp wit and his great heart. He loved people, he loved life, he loved solving problems and fixing stuff and he loved fun. (The 1967 concert we went to at a club in Kenmore Square is still my best musical memory.) I will always love Doug. Thanks, pal.

If tears could build a stairway
and thoughts a memory lane
I'd walk right up to heaven
and bring you home again.

No Farewell words were spoken
No time to say good-bye
You were gone before I knew it
And only God knows why.

My heart's still active in sadness
And secret tears still flow
What it meant to lose you
No one can ever know.

But now I know you want us
To mourn for you no more
To remember all the happy times
Life still has much in store.

Since you'll never be forgotten
I pledge to you today
A hallowed place within my heart
Is where you'll always stay.

Rest in peace my love, until we meet again.
