John Davenport Obituary

John Newton Davenport, 72, died Wednesday, October 21, 2015 after a long battle with lung cancer. John was born in Farmington, Maine, son of John and Grace Davenport. He is survived by his wife Ann of 53 years of marriage. John also had 3 loving children; A daughter Cindy and her husband John King, son John Stanley, and son Scott and his wife Wendy.

John loved to drive and dedicated his work career for over 25 years at Ross Express as a truck driver. He was also a loyal New England fan and loved to watch the Patriots, Celtics, and Red Sox. John had a fondness for family vacations at York beach. (Lasting memory of him wearing his favorite cowboy hat and boots while sitting on the beach). During the winter seasons, he loved to spend time in the woods hunting and fishing with his son John. Since his retirement, John grew fond of playing cribbage with close friends.

John is also survived by his sister Teresa Earley and brother Gene Davenport. John also had a predeceased sister Linda McKenney. John cherished his grandchildren Alex, Cameron, Brooke, Hunter, Mackenzie, Austin, John King Jr., and Megan. John also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Everyone was fond of John and the memories he left. He was a very kind person who always put family and friends first.

Calling hours will be held Sunday, October 25, at 11:00 a.m till 1:00 p.m. at the Bennett Funeral Home in Concord, N.H. The service will be held at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Lung Assocation at lung.org.

The Bennett Funeral Home of Concord is in charge of the arrangements. Messages of condolences may be offered at bennettfuneral.com.

So devoted to each other and such a fun couple. I pray your wonderful memories will sustain you until you can be together again. My Mom passed from lung cancer, so I have an idea how rough this was on both of you. God bless you Ann and rest now John, peace of the Lord be with you both.

Dear Ann & Family:

Was so sorry to hear of John's passing.Always had great times with John golfing, going to see the Celtics and Bruins and being in the Jaycees together.

I got to see John in early September at the Nursing Home. Lee Owen told me he was there and we was able to visit him. I am so glad that I did.

Red and i were so sad to hear the news of John's passing. We have been so lucky to have known John and Ann when they became in laws to our Daughter Wendy. They soon became friends. We will miss you John, but now the endless pain is over, rest in peace.
