Louise Clark Obituary

Louise M. Clark

Bradford, NH — Louise (Weezie) Clark passed away peacefully at home on August 22, 2022. At 101 years of age, she remained independent and inspirational right to the very end.

She had countless friends of all ages and a loving family close by. She drove to play bridge games with friends…and often won! And she "counted her lucky stars" every single day.

Weezie (nee Louise Marden Wild) was born, raised and married in the same home in Winchester, Massachusetts. She spent summers at Bass River on Cape Cod where she excelled at water sports and tennis. After attending Winchester High School she studied at Smith College, following her female family tradition. While there she met George Clark (Dartmouth '42) whom she married and built a life with in Carlisle, MA. Her beloved George passed away in 1988.

For the final third of her life she resided in Bradford, NH in the house George built for their retirement on the farm they had purchased in 1959. Together, in both Carlisle and Bradford, they raised five active children and celebrated a life full of academic and amusing pursuits in equal measure. Mt. Sunapee was their winter playground and no one was a more graceful skier than she. Weezie was an active community member and held the Boston Post Cane for Oldest Citizen in Bradford for a decade. She was a lover of the arts and had a keen sense of family history which she upheld for the entire Wild clan.

She was quiet and caring but really knew how to have fun. She always felt she lived a "charmed life" and she shared her positive nature freely. This generosity of spirit belies the fact that she faced many challenges and losses in her century long life.

Somehow, she knew how to appreciate and elevate everyone around her. She was bright and alert always, a gifted listener, puzzler and knitter. Her acuity and beauty were truly remarkable.

She deeply mourned the loss of her son Gary Clark in 2019 and leaves behind her sons Robert Clark (Killingworth CT) and Donald Clark (Bradford NH) as well as her daughters Laurie Buchar (Bradford NH) and Nancy Herter (Carlisle MA) plus her loving in-laws Lynn Monahan Clark, Connie Clark, David Buchar and Ned Herter. She delighted in her twelve grandchildren and fourteen great grands who will never forget their amazing GG.

A memorial service will be held at Bradford Center Meetinghouse on Sunday, September 18, 2022 at 11:00 am.

I am deeply saddened to read of the death of my friend, Weezie. From the time that I met her in 1990, she quickly became one of my favorite people. She lived her life to the fullest, always happy with her trademark smile...a smile that came easy to her face. She raised an incredible family and was dedicated to them all and cherished her position as their matriarch. She lived her adventurous life with dignity, style and grace. I want her family to know that I care, she was quite a gal!
