Wayne Edwin Kimball
Epsom, NH - Wayne Edwin Kimball, 67, passed away at Concord Hospital on Thursday, December 5, 2024 with family by his side. Born July 7, 1957 in Concord, he was the youngest child of Ruth and Lloyd Kimball. He was married to Suzanne (better known as Sue) Lesieur and they were partners for over 43 years before her death five years ago. Wayne and Sue were great parents to their only child, Daniel L. Kimball, of Epsom. And Wayne enjoyed being a Grampa to Pepper Sue Kimball, daughter of Dan and Morgan Kimball.
Wayne was a life-long farmer, working and eventually managing the Kimball Farm in Epsom, NH. He started climbing up on tractors by age 3, and was always happiest when he was on the tractor. Throughout the years, he amassed quite a collection of tractors, and was particularly fond of Allis-Chalmers. He graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1975 and attended New Hampshire Technical Institute where he studied mechanics and welding. Today's farmers need to diversify, so Wayne built a garage on the farm for repairs. In addition to milking cows and selling milk, Wayne also sold hay, fertilizer, baling twine, bale wrap, tires, lumber, and cord wood.
But his heart was definitely tied to the farm – he always wanted to be a farmer and the family farm is where he always lived. This meant long hours, hard work in all sorts of weather, with very little time off – Wayne and Sue would occasionally get away for a fair or two and sometimes travelled to different parts of New England to attend a Garth Brooks concert. He particularly liked going to farm equipment auctions and was always looking for a bargain! Wayne loved all the animals, but had a special fondness for Jersey cows, family dogs, and the cats.
Wayne was a member of the Victory Workers 4-H Club for 10 years and earned a trip to National 4-H Club Congress in Chicago. He was a member of the New Hampshire State Jersey Club. He participated in one tractor pull, and brought home the first place trophy for his efforts! Wayne loved snowmobiling and his four-wheeler, and they both gave him a little break from the tractor seat.
As a child, Wayne went to several live wrestling matches with his Dad, uncles, cousins and nephews. He was never officially on Facebook, but always knew what was going on! He had many friends, work connections and a large extended family. In carrying on the Kimball Family Farm Legacy, Wayne educated and advised many area youth as well as adults on good work ethics, the importance of agriculture, and instilled respect for the land.
Wayne was predeceased by his wife, Suzanne Lesieur; his parents , Ruth and Lloyd Kimball; his brother, Luellan "Butch" Kimball; and his brothers-in-law, Edward C. Riel and Paul D. Davis.
Wayne leaves behind his son, Daniel, daughter-in-law, Morgan, and the light of his life, granddaughter, Pepper Sue Kimball. In addition, he leaves behind three sisters – Corine (Leon) Miller of Pittsfield, Carolyn Davis of Epsom, Elaine (David) Cannon of Clemmons, NC; a brother, George (Tandy) Kimball of Leitchfield, KY; his sister-in-law, Rose Kimball of Epsom; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Wayne Kimball to the Ruth H. Kimball Endowment Fund, 4-H Foundation of NH, 9 Edgewood Road, Durham, NH 03824 or to the South Pittsfield Community Club, Patti Houle, Treasurer, 42 Dowboro Road, Pittsfield, NH 03263.
