Henry Schrickel Obituary

NEW PHILADELPHIA: Dr. Henry W. Schrickel, age 70, of New Philadelphia, OH, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2009, due to lengthy illness from a hard fought battle with heart failure.
Born at Martins Ferry, OH, on July 5, 1938, Henry was the son of the late John Henry and Mary Elizabeth (Dorsch) Schrickel.
In 1956, Henry graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School and then from the National College of Chiropractic in Chicago, Illinois after six years with a degree of Doctor of Chiropractic.
In college, Henry was a member of Chi Rho Sigma (Athletic Director and Sgt. Of Arms), a member of Lambda Phi Delta. Each examinee must have completed his sophomore year and must score a minimum grade of 70 in any subject and must have an overall average of 80. As the examination is similar to a basic science board examination, the examinations are scheduled so that students preparing for basic science boards may have the experience of the Lambda Phi Delta examination before his state board examination.
Henry received a scholarship in football as a quarterback from Chattanooga University in Tennessee and Miami University in Ohio. Also, he was invited to try out for Minor League Baseball as a pitcher. He was All-Ohio his senior year of high school in football and basketball.
