Norma Conroe Obituary

Mrs. Norma Conroe, longtime resident of Conroe, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. She was born to Joseph Walker Flatt and Hattie Adelle Flatt on September 7, 1936 in Timpson, Texas. Her family moved to Conroe her senior year of high school. That is when she met William "Bill" Conroe after his return from the Korean War. They later wed and had two children, Kelly and Chris. Once they both were in school, Norma went back to further her education and obtained her bachelor's degree. She then worked as a probation officer for many years in Montgomery County. Norma loved to travel with her friends and went all around the USA, Thailand and Spain. She loved antiques and at one time had an antique shop in a co-op in Huntsville. Norma enjoyed looking at houses and adored playing the piano, especially old hymns, but spending time with her family is what she loved the most. She was known for her witty sense of humor and kindness; Norma will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill in 2012. Norma is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Rudy Rymal. Her son and daughter-in-law, Christopher Conroe and Teresa. Grandchildren, Keith Rymal and wife, Gina, Shae Franks, Ryan Rymal and wife, Desteney, Kimberly Poole, Kristina Infante and Katie Conroe. Great-grandchildren, Dade Rymal, Madisyn and Brooklyn Poole, Anna Conroe and Mario Infante and Brynlee Franks.

Pallbearers will include Brian Bienvenu, Billy Lyons, Justin Roberts, Homero Lozano, Juan Lozano and Roger Mitchell.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., in The Chapel at Conroe Funeral Directors with the Rev. Tim Byrd officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service in The Chapel beginning at 10:00 a.m.

I first met Norma in 1989 when I was employed at Montgomery County Adult Probation fresh out of SHSU. Norma taught me to be caring and thoughtful with the people we supervised. That lesson served me well in my career with Adult Probation for over 3 decades. Norma was a lovely lady who blessed many and that I was blessed to know. My prayers and thoughts go out to her family and friends.

In the early 1980's Mrs. Conroe was a great support and encourager to my husband and me going through a rough spot. She was kind, funny, helpful, and encouraged us more than anyone else did at the time. I am keeping her family close in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Kelley and Chris,
Prayers, hugs and comfort for you during this difficult time.
I remember the early days when Norma and my mother worked together at Dr. Hicks´s office.
Norma is in peaceful rest now.
