Everett Ewell passed away quietly in his home in Atkins, Ark. early Friday morning on July 12, 2024. He was 87 years old. Born in Dyer, TN, Everett was the son of Clark and Nelle Marrs Ewell. Upon graduating from high school, he joined the Tennessee National Guard and attended Murray State University, where he was a member of the Pershing Rifles Drill Team. He received a business degree from Arkansas Tech University in 1959. He worked with his cousin George Ewell operating Arkansas Wirebound Box Company in Atkins. While living in Atkins, Everett was an active member of the community, serving on the city council and as mayor of Atkins for two terms. He was also involved in the Jaycees and served with The Gideons International for 24 years.
Everett and his wife Barbara Ann Ewell owned Wee Care Childcare Centers of Conway for 16 years. Everett was known to the kids, as well as the parents and staff, as "Mr. E", a title he dearly loved.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Barbara Ann Ewell; sister, Barbara Nelle Ewell of Conway, AR; daughters Donna Ewell Brown (Bryan), Patricia Ewell Russell, Myra Ewell Mobbs (Mark), Dee Hamby (Chris), Tina Bewley (Terry), Tracey Wilkinson (Tim) and Alicia Powers; 19 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; beloved pets Barbara Bella and Tilley Mae.
The visitation will be held on Monday, July 29 at 1 p.m. at Lemley Chapel, followed by A Celebration of Life at 2 p.m. under the direction of Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins.
