Joey South, 42, of Russellville, Arkansas, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at UAMS Hospital in Little Rock.
He was born on February 5, 1982, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Aaron and Carol Hall South. Joey married Melissa Diane Kelly on March 16, 2019, in Lamar, Arkansas, and together they built a loving family.
Joey worked as an electrician for Smurfit-Westrock and was recognized as the Coca-Cola Trailblazer, being the first recipient from Arkansas. He was also honored with several academic scholarships throughout his life. Joey was a dedicated member of New Life Church, where he served on the worship team. He found joy in hiking, riding motorcycles, and working on projects, especially those for his mother. Above all, he cherished spending time with his family, particularly his children.
Joey is survived by his wife, Melissa South; daughters, Savannah South and Emily Rousey; sons, Chase Rousey and Jace Morrow, all of Russellville; his parents, Aaron and Carol South of Russellville; and his sister, Carissa Hart (Mike) of Tuscumbia, Alabama. He is also remembered by many other relatives and friends.
Joey was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.
A celebration of life will be held from 3-5 p.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at New Life Church. A private committal service was held at the Chapel of Light at the J.
