Memorial services for Joyce Ann Reel, 80, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 4 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jeremy Yancey officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.
Mrs. Reel was born August 28, 1944, in Sale Creek, Tennessee to the late Betty Irene (Sleighbaugh) and John Alexander Fuller, and died Wednesday, June 11, 2025, in a local nursing home.
Joyce had resided in Russellville, Arkansas for over 30 years prior to moving to Lufkin seven years ago. She had worked as a Secretary of Records in the Detective Bureau Department for the Westminster Police Department in California, retiring after 13 years of service. Joyce married her high school sweetheart, Carroll Edmond Reel. They celebrated 61 years of marriage, although they were together for a total of 65 wonderful years. They both would tell you the other was the love of their life. Joyce was very creative and enjoyed painting, making jewelry, and quilting, to name a few of her hobbies. She was very active and enjoyed playing tennis, going fishing and camping, and travelling in their motor home. She and Carroll enjoyed riding motorcycles and at the age of 70 Joyce decided to get her own Harley so she could ride by herself. She loved her family dearly and loved spending time at their farm in Arkansas, where they had horses and cows. Joyce was a member of Timber Creek Church and she will be missed by all who were blessed to have her in their lives.
Survivors include her husband, Carroll Reel of Lufkin; son, Dr. Jason Reel and wife Jennifer of Lufkin; daughter, Tomi Reel of Lufkin; grandchildren, Kaylyn Dunlap and husband Pat, Jayce, Aspen, and Tatum and Brody Reel; great-granddaughters, Aria and Juliette; sister, Rosemary Crippen of Washington; sisters-in-law, Edalyene Bryant of Mulberry, Arkansas and Shirley Bubbus of Russellville, Arkansas; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
