Dennis C. Dobie

AGE: 75 • Cherry Hill

Dennis C. Dobie, of Cherry Hill, NJ, age 75, went home to be with the Lord after a courageous 5-year battle with cancer, on July 15. Beloved husband of Ginny [nee Matthews] for 50 years. Devoted father of Susan Blackwell (Joseph) and Robert Dobie (Tracy). Dear brother of Jill Cowen (Joseph) and brother-in-law of Bernard Matthews (Eileen). Loving Pop-Pop of Katelyn, Megan, Lauren and Kyle. Caring uncle of Todd Heacock. Also survived by a niece and nephew, cousins and many devoted friends. Graduated Collingswood High School '59 and Drexel Evening College '69, enjoyed a career in mechanical engineering for over 50 years. He was a man of faith, who enjoyed reading the Bible, helping others, and had a wonderful sense of humor. He was always proud to say he was a Marine and had a life-long passion for trains, especially his Lionels. He will be missed by the many people whose lives he touched.

Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing on Friday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at the Creran Funeral Home, 400 White Horse Pike, Oaklyn, NJ 08107(856-854-2846). A church service will be held the following morning at 10:30 AM at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 409 White Horse Pike, Oaklyn.

In lieu of flowers, a contribution in memory of Dennis can be made to support research led by Dr. Jon Christodouleas at the Abramson Cancer Center at the University of Pennsylvania and mailed to Penn Medical Development, Attn: Sheryl Garton, 3535 Market Street, Ste 750, Philadelphia, PA 19104. Please make your check payable to Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania - specify on bottom left for Dennis Dobie Memorial Fund. Thank you.

Sorry for your loss. Dennis was a long time co-worker, starting in 1976. Even tho i was older than him, he was my mentor and always made sure through the years that i never stopped learning.I will miss him dearly but i have many years of fond memories.
