Freda Foley Obituary
Mt. Vernon, IN
Freda V. Foley, 87 of Mt. Vernon and formerly of Enfield, IL passed away Sunday December 27, 2015 at the Mt. Vernon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Enfield on August 18, 1928 the daughter of Herschel and Nora (Gwaltney) Newman. She married James Foley on December 17, 1944 and he preceded her in death on October 23, 1999.
Freda was a member of the Mt. Vernon General Baptist Church where she was active in the Mothers Bible Class and the Elderberries. Freda enjoyed living and visiting with the people at Cloverleaf.
She is survived by her daughters, Brenda (Clinton) Willis and Connie Naas all of Mt. Vernon; grandchildren, Debbie Scott and Donnie Willis; great-grandchildren, Kirk (Ashley) Willis, Laura (Daniel Klitgaard) Willis, Kyle Willis, Lexie Williis Kelsey (Jordan) Ambrous and Kaylee (Ben) Stevens; great-great-grandchildren, Clinton "CJ" Akins, Maverick Ambrous and Violet Willis; a brother-in-law, Claude Lane of Carmi. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Ernie, Virgil and Arnold Newman; sisters, Faye Garrett, Ruby Hart, Iva Sutton, Wilma Lane and Thelma Lane.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday December 29, 2015 from 11-1 p.m. at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home at 1330 E. 4th St., Mt. Vernon, IN. An additional visitation will be also be held Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Enfield, IL. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home in Enfield with Rev. Matt Watson officiating. Burial will be in Enfield Cemetery.
