Pete was born on May 4, 1925, in Rockport, Indiana, to the late William and Nellie (Kernel) Langdon. He retired from Laborers Local 561 and also worked part-time at Mulzer's as a night watchman. He served in the United States Navy during World War II on the USS Alderamin. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, attending Navy reunions and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Richard Langdon; and niece, Marilyn Short.
Pete is survived by his wife of 60 years, Wilma Jackson Langdon; children, Henry T. Langdon Jr. of Rockport, John Langdon and his wife, Beckie, of Rockport, Linda Lacy and her husband, Joe, of Rockport and Donna Polster and her husband, Mike, of Evanston, Ind.; grandchildren, Jennifer Begle and her husband, Brian, Elizabeth Lee and her husband, Ryan, and Zachary Polster; great-grandchildren, Madison Begle and Mackenzie Jo Begle; sister, Blanche Brown; and niece, Paula Stewart.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at the Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, with Rev. Larry Smith officiating. Burial is in Sunset Hill Cemetery in Rockport. The Rockport American Legion Post 254 will conduct military honors.
Visitation is from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, June 29, 2009, and from 8 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Spencer County Hospice.
