Jane was born to Eva and Bill Lauer on August 16, 1921. She had a younger sister, Ellen.
She married Jennings Hacker in 1945 and had two children.
She spent her entire life as a humanitarian and advocate of "tolerance." In 2005, Jane's name was placed on the "Wall of Tolerance" founded by Rosa Parks "honoring those taking a personal, public stand against hate, injustice and intolerance, and who are leading the way toward a more just America."
Jane had a variety of interests. She loved animals! She was a voracious reader, and enjoyed classical music, museums and fine arts.
Jane was preceded in death by Jennings, her husband of 63 years, in March of 2008 and her son, Stephen, in December 2008.
Jane is survived by her daughter, Sally J. Hacker; her brother-in-law, Donald Wedeking Sr.; her nephew, Donald Wedeking Jr. and his family; and her niece, Susan Gregory and her husband, Stan.
Jane will continue to be admired and missed by her family and friends!
There will be a private family service.

In the short time I knew Miss Jane, she became apart of those I hold dearly in my heart. I will miss her humor the most and she always had a smile on her face. I was lucky to have known her.
