John R. McDurmon, 100, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the West River Health Campus.
John was born October 10, 1916 in Posey County, IN to the late Fuhrer and Rose (Hoehn) McDurmon. He worked as a machinist at Alcoa and was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church. John enjoyed gardening, attending his grandchildren's sporting events and traveling with his wife, Edna.
Surviving John are a daughter, Rita (Keith) McNeely of Evansville; daughter-in-law, Joyce McDurmon of Evansville; brothers, Bill McDurmon of Lakeland, FL, George McDurmon of Cape May, NJ and Marvin McDurmon of New Harmony, IN; five grandchildren, Jodi (Carlos) Morales, Lisa (Dan) Schmidt, Scott (Mindy) McDurmon, Brett (Jennifer) McDurmon and Jeff (Natalie) McDurmon; three step grandchildren, Dale (Patty) Loehr, Paul (Mary) Loehr and Ronnie Tidwell; fifteen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren, many step great grandchildren, and many step great great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Edna McDurmon in 2005; by a son, John T. McDurmon in 2004; by a step daughter, Patty Tidwell in 2004; by sisters, Margaret McDurmon, Norma Jean Uhde and Mary Ann Newcomb; brothers, Charles McDurmon, Arthur McDurmon, Joe McDurmon, Floyd McDurmon and Alex "Butch" McDurmon, by a step grandchild, Dennis Loehr and by a step great great grandchild.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 1, 2017, Rev. Claude Burns officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service on Saturday at Corpus Christi Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 5528 Hogue Road, Evansville, IN 47712 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

A life well lived...I remember you came through my line at the store & I said you are a McDurmon...I was asked how'd you know? I replied because Bill McDurmon Sr is my stepdad & you smiled. I've carried that memory for many years. N, will continue to do so.
