Rhoda Richards Obituary

Service: Graveside Service: Tuesday, January 14, 2025 10:00 AM Goodwill Cemetery 6258 Waynsburg Tiro Road Auburn Township, Ohio Rhoda Elizabeth Richards, lovingly known as "MawMaw," passed away peacefully on January 7, 2025, at the age of 88. She was surrounded by the love of family and friends whose lives she touched with her warmth and kindness. Born on August 16, 1936, in Willard, Ohio, Rhoda was the cherished daughter of James Vincent and Mary Lucretia Stout. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Lester Stout, Jim Stout, Don Stout, and Vincent Stout. Rhoda is survived by her devoted husband of 71 years, Edward Richards of Madison, Mississippi; her children, Rick Richards of Martin, Tennessee, and Kathlene (Duane) Williamson of Madison, Mississippi; and her treasured grandchildren: Michelle (Joe) Brand of Stone Mountain, Georgia; Mary (Chris) Cowperthwaite of Gouldsboro, Maine; Beth Hutchinson of Madison, Mississippi; and Paul (Allie) Richards of Bradford, Tennessee. She also leaves behind six beloved great-grandchildren: Ethan Bonta, Gaven Cowperthwaite, Kayden Cowperthwaite, Aria Cowperthwaite, Caroline Hutchinson, and Leighton Jane Richards. Rhoda will be fondly remembered by her nieces Lynn Stout Anstett and Leah Stout Harmon and her nephew, Jeff Richards as well as many other dear family members and all of her brothers and sisters in Christ. Rhoda's life, love, and faith were controlled and guided by "the Master of Assemblies, which are given from One Shepherd." She would point us to words from II Corinthians 1:3,4, "Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God." May we strive to do this each day. The family will receive guests at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola, Mississippi, on Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm and will be led by Ruth Warner, Joanna Bishop, and Marilyn Stafford. Graveside services will be provided by Secor Funeral Home in New Washington, Ohio, on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at 10:00 am, at Goodwill Cemetery, 6258 Waynesburg Tiro Road, Auburn Township, Ohio, conducted by Mark Peters, Robert Bishop, and Linda Dietz.
