ERNEST SWIFT Obituary

ERNEST SWIFT He was the second of six children to Hugh and Eleanore Swift. He grew up in the rural Crookston area and graduated high school in 1962 from the NWSA in Crookston. He went on to graduate from Moorhead State. He then furthered his education by attending Oklahoma University for his Masters and Doctorate in Philosophy. He then started his long career of teaching. He, his wife and children moved to Mount Pleasant, Mich., where he taught at Central Michigan University as an associate professor. After three years in Michigan, he and his family then moved to Kennesaw, Ga., where he would teach finance as a professor in College of Business at Georgia State University. He would go on to be an interim dean before retiring from GA State. Ernie didn't completely retire though. He would go on to teach banking programs around the world. Ernie was an avid hunter and outdoors man. He was very involved in the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, RMEF. He loved his family, baseball, hunting and woodworking. Ernie is survived by his wife Sue, his children, David (Trish) Swift, Kelly (Marc) Haddle, Jimmy Hathcox, Rex (Lina) Hathcox, Brandy (Dell) Hathcock along with 10 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, four brothers and many nieces and nephews. Ernie is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, a niece and a grandson. A celebration of life is scheduled for Saturday October 12 at 2 p.m. at Crookston Inn and Convention center.

My memories are of all the Weber cousins playing workup on the baseball diamond on the Swift farm. Ernie and Hugh wanted to use a baseball but the rest of us won out to use a softball. Fun times.
