Alphonso Senese Obituary

Senese, Alphonso V.
Alphonso Vincent Senese (Al) of Fairfield, CT and West Palm Beach, Florida, passed away at the age of 100, on Sunday, August 18th with his wife Juliette by his side. He was born in Naples, Italy on October 15,1912, and emigrated with his parents Antony and Teresa Viola Senese, his grandmother and his two sisters to Bridgeport, CT when he was almost 4. Al was a self-made man who became and accountant and then a highly successful entrepreneur, owning Senese Manufacturing Co., Inc. for 50 years in the area. With his first wife Florence Pucci Senese of 36 years, he raised a lovely family of 5 girls and 1 boy. They lived in Fairfield, CT , until her passing on March 7, 1976. Al was also dedicated community volunteer. His crowning achievement, in his eyes was being one of the founding members and President of the Italian Community Center of Bridgeport, CT in the late 1960's. He was a lover of the arts throughout his entire life including opera, music, classical art and literature. To this end he decided to bring opera to Bridgeport by way of the Italian Community Center. During this process he was lucky enough to meet his second wife Juliette for 31 years. Al's love of the Opera and desire to understand it spoken in Italian inspired him to complete four years of Italian Grammar and Literature. He went on to fulfill a lifelong ambition and at the tender age of 60 received his Bachelor's degree from Scared Heart University. He also taught Italian literature there for a short time. Before his death Al was fluent in French as well as English and Italian. A fitness enthusiast for his entire life; he rode his bike an average of 10 miles a day, doing this well into his late 90's. He always had a kind word and a beautiful smile, which always drew people to him. He had a long, rich and full life, and was greatly loved by his children and all his offspring. May he rest in peace and Rise in Glory. We will be celebrating his life with a funeral mass on Saturday, November 9th, 2013 at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Fairfield, CT at 10:00 am. Burial to follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford, CT He is survived by his wife Juliette, and children: Marianne Senese Depuis and her husband Trygve of Oslo Norway, Patricia Rademacher, and her husband John, of Bethlehem, NH, Francine Merhill, and her husband, Joseph, of Seymour, CT , Roberta Hayes, and her life partner Mike Smart of LasVegas, NV , Monica Marchese, and her husband Anthony , of West Hartford, CT, and Alfred Anthony Senese, of Corning, NY.
