Anthony Vitola Obituary

Anthony J. Vitola
Anthony J. Vitola, 84, passed away on April 15, 2025 after a short illness. He was born in Bridgeport, CT, son of the late James and Clara Vitola.
Anthony earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Fairfield University and an M.B.A. from the University of Bridgeport. He worked for many years at Norden Systems-United Technologies. First, as an engineer, and then as a contract negotiator.
His second career brought him to academia, where his gregarious personality and true caring for others shone through. He began teaching math and statistics at Norwalk Community College and then moved on to Housatonic Community College where he became the school's Director of Information Technology while continuing to teach. He remained at Housatonic C.C. until his retirement in 2020.
Anthony was extremely proud of his service to his country and community. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army reserves. Later, he was elected to the Trumbull Town Council and the Trumbull Board of Finance. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Trumbull Jaycees and an active member at Christ the King parish in Trumbull, often performing the readings and assisting with the collection.
Outside of work, he truly enjoyed spending time with friends and family, most especially if it involved his grandchildren. Holidays, family get-togethers, family vacations, and the regular day trip "adventures" that he shared with his dearest and closest friends always brought him joy, a wide smile and a warm glow.
Anthony was predeceased by his beloved wife Martha, and his sisters Theresa Vitola and Claire Vitola. He is survived by his three loving children Stephen J. Vitola, Paul A. Vitola and his wife Kristine, and Amanda Vitola and her husband Thomas Keri. He is also survived by six cherished grandchildren, Lauren Vitola, Abigail Vitola, Makenzie Keri, Molly Vitola, Carly Vitola and Julie Keri.
Friends and family are invited to attend his funeral services on Tuesday at 9:45 a.m. at the Cyril F. Mullins Trumbull Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Rd. and at 10:30 a.m. at Christ the King Church, 4700 Madison Ave., Trumbull. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Trumbull. Friends may call on Monday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105. My dearest Anthony whom I will forever miss. I was so blessed to spend time with him just a few months before his passing. It was a wonderful and blessed reunion that I will be eternally grateful for. For months we spent time together on our family ancestry, which was near and dear to both of our hearts. We enjoyed our "flash back Friday´s" where we would text each other old family photos of our childhood. I will miss you dearly my dear talented, handsome cousin. Until we are joined together again. I promised you I will complete our family ancestry for our children. I won´t let you down my dear Anthony - I promise. I love you. Until we see each other again. Bonnie Cararbe Prior and my husband "Anthony J. Prior" who so wishes he could have been blessed to know you.

To all of the Vitola family, I worked with Tony at NCC and we quickly became friends. I used to see him at Christ the King Church as well. He is a good man and his absence will be felt by many.
