Charles Kelly Obituary

Kelly, Jr, Charles L.
Charles L. Kelly, Jr., age 94, of the White Hills section of Shelton, CT, entered peacefully into eternal life on Friday, May 23, 2014 in Bridgeport Hospital. Charles was born on February 8, 1920 in Bridgeport, son of the late Charles Kelly, Sr. and Amelia (White) Kelly. Charles served his country in the Navy during WWII. After the service, he became an electrician with IBEW Local 488 and he was also a retired Bridgeport Police Officer. He was a member and Past President of the Local 488 Retiree Association. Charles was also a member of the Retired Police and Firemen Association, Police Association of CT, Police Benevolent Association, Bridgeport Police Union Local 1159 and the Sutter-Terlizzi American Legion Post 16. He is survived by his devoted wife and best friend of 73 years Mabel. Other survivors include his children, John Kelly and wife Yolande of Monroe, Charles Kelly, III of Shelton, grandchildren Sean Kelly of Monroe, Charles Kelly, IV of Guilford, Susan Kelly of Guilford, Christopher Kelly and wife Marissa of Matthews, NC, great grandsons, Brandon and Charles Kelly of Guilford and Parker, Benjamin and Colton Kelly of NC and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Charles was predeceased by a daughter-in-law Dolores "Dolly" Kelly. The family wishes to thank the medical staff at Bridgeport Hospital for their care and understanding. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton. On Wednesday, his funeral will leave the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at St. Lawrence Church. His burial with military honors will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in Stratford. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to Bridgeport Hospital Development Fund, 267 Grant St., Bridgeport CT 06610.
