Charlie was great to work with and we had fun while he was recording the Name Droppers album.

I met Charlie around 1986 when he reached out to me when I was involved in music management. I went on the manage the band Charlie had put together, Charlie Karp and The Namedroppers and we went on to release an album on Grudge Records/BMG. Charlie was so talented, so bright and always fun to be around. Myra and I have been trying to reach him for some time to hang out together. Myra (my wife) and Charlie shared the same birthday and we always spoke on April 13th. We'd joke about one of his songs that Joan Jett recorded "Too Bad on your Birthday" that he wrote with Artie Resnick (Under the Boardwalk). Our heart break. The world has lost a true talent. Our condolences to the family and all the people he touched.

Charlie was my Guitar Teacher, who taught me a variety of songs that I've cherished over the years, and, still love to play. When it was time for me to advance from a much older guitar I had used when I first started playing, he led my parents and I to the music store where I purchased my first new guitar, back when I was 14. I still remember that he was very excited for me the first time I brought it into a lesson, a sign that he really cared about his students' progress. Being a musician is still an important part of my life, and, I will always appreciate his lessons, along with his ability to see my talent, potential, and, love for music and guitar.
I also remember his stories of playing with iconic musicians of his time. One of the memories in my life that I won't ever forget was the start of my very first lesson with Charlie. Walking into the room that sunny Saturday morning in September, my 13-year-old eyes were immediately drawn to a framed black and white picture of him and a young Steven Tyler working in the studio together. Almost 15 years later, I still think that was, hands down, one of the most absolutely coolest things I have ever seen! Charlie was a dedicated and talented guitarist, and, I am grateful for him sharing his musicianship.
I send my condolences and prayers to his family and loved ones, as I am very shocked and sorry for this loss. May Charlie rock the heavens, and, may his legacy live on.
