David Gaito
David Gaito, age 55, of Vermont and formerly of Milford, beloved husband of Jennifer Dorsey Gaito, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at his home surrounded by his devoted family. Born in Milford on April 10, 1962, he was a son of Jeanne Bristol of CA and the late Robert D. Gaito, Sr. Dave was a graduate of Milford High School Class of 1980, and played running back on the football team. He went on to attend Worcester Academy. David joined the City of Bridgeport Fire Department in 1996, and proudly served the department and City of Bridgeport until his passing. He served the following station houses throughout his career; R5C from Jan 96 to Jan 97, L10C from Jan 97 to Mar 97, E16 A from Mar 97 to May 98, E1A from May 98 to Mar 08, L5A from Mar 08 to Separate 08, R5D from Sep 08 to May 12, L6A from May 12 to the present. He was awarded on February 17, 2000, a unit citation while on E1A and a citation for actions on November 13, 1996 while on R5. Along with his wife, they owned and operated Dorsey's Pub in Milford from 1997- 2012, and together operated the Crow Bar and Grill in Windsor, VT from 2015 to the present. But above all his accomplishments in life, Dave was a devoted husband and father. The memories they created together will continue to live on in their hearts. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his devoted wife of almost 22 years Jenn, and his mother, survivors include his cherished children, Jordan Gaito, Jameson Gaito, Stephanie Gaito, Mallory Gaito, Robert Gaito, a granddaughter, Isabella Gaito; three siblings, Marcella Gaito Crone (James), Kenneth Gaito (Teresa) and James Gaito; his father and mother-in-law, Leo and Marlene Dorsey, several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews; as well as many dear friends and fellow firefighters. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Charlotte & Kenneth Gaito, Mary Louise & Nelson Bristol. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. directly in St. Patrick Church, 851 North Ave, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Tuesday from 4 – 8 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bridgeport Hospital Burn Unit c/o Bridgeport Hospital Foundation, 267 Grant Street, Bridgeport, CT 06610.
