Elizabeth Benson Obituary

BENSON Elizabeth Booth Benson, age 90, of Old Zoar Road, Monroe, died Friday, October 28, 2005, at her home with her family by her side after a brief illness. She was the widow of Herbert Oscar Benson. Mrs. Benson was born September 2, 1915, in Middlebury, the daughter of the late Truman Wheeler and Phoebe May (Nichols) Booth. She was a graduate of Woodbury High School and attended secretarial school at Post Junior College. She worked as a cook at the Southbury Training School for 17 years and also as a home health aide in the Woodbury and Southbury areas for a number of years as well. She was an animal lover and enjoyed crocheting, and traveling. Among her survivors are two sons, Myron Benson of Bethlehem and John Benson of Watertown; four daughters, Lois Moon of Port Charlotte, Fla., Sylvia Socci of Milford, Jean Clark of Monroe and Brenda Klein of Troy, Maine; as well as 11 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren. Services for Mrs. Benson will be held Tuesday, November 1, at 11:30 a.m. at the Southbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere (235 Main St N0.) Calling hours will be held Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial in Middlebury Cemetery. Memorial Contributions in her name may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Road, Newington, CT 06111.
