George Adams Obituary

George William Adams III
George William Adams III of Milford, CT passed away at Milford Hospital on Saturday, May 6, 2023 with his family by his side. Born in Lancaster, PA, he was the son of Eleanor Symons Adams and the late George William Adams Jr.
George graduated from Bunnell High School in 1967 and attended Yale University, Timothy Dwight College, Class of 1971. After receiving his Juris Doctor at Boston University Law School in 1975, he spent 40 years practicing real estate and probate law. He was a partner at Harlow, Adams & Friedman, P.C. in Milford, retiring in 2016.
George was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, friend and colleague. He loved life and lived it with enthusiasm and generosity. George was deeply committed to nonprofit work such as Lawyers for Lawyers and served as the president of the Milford Arts Council. Known for his neat & natty style, sharp mind and quick-witted quips, he enjoyed travel, skiing, scuba diving, playing the piano, the music of Cole Porter and loved the occasional daredevil adventure - like paragliding or sky diving.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 31 years, Sandra Honda Adams, his daughter Elizabeth Dorney, her husband James B. Dorney of Milford, granddaughter Lillian Grace Dorney, his mother Eleanor Symons Adams of Shelton and his siblings: Thomas R. Adams and his wife Susan Fraser Adams of Madison, Grace Anne Weitzer and her husband Stephen of Fairfield, and Bill Adams and his wife Darrilyn of Scottsdale, AZ.
He was predeceased by his father George William Adams Jr and his brother Lewis Alan Adams.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend the funeral service and burial on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Union Cemetery in Stratford.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Dennis and D'Arcy - Abriola and Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main St., Stratford.
