Gerald Gerathy Obituary

GERATHY Gerald Gerathy, age 80, of Shelton, beloved husband of 55 years of Marilyn Clark Gerathy, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, January 14, 2004, at Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Greenwich, son of the late Joseph and Emma Donady Gerathy, Mr. Gerathy was a lifelong area resident. He was a retired firefighter and worked as a pumper engineer with the Bridgeport Fire Department with 27 years of service, a member of the Bridgeport Association of Retired Firefighters, was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran of World War II and was involved in the invasion of Marshall Island. Mr. Gerathy was also an active member of the Huntington Chapel. Survivors in addition to his wife, include one daughter, Lynda Gerathy Kilgore and her husband, David of Trenton, Fla.; three brothers, E. Carroll Gerathy of Summit, N.J., Donald Gerathy of Toms River, N.J., and George W. Gerathy of Shelton; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Clark of Shelton; two sisters, Dorothy Kundert of Trumbull and Margery Casey of Martha's Vineyard; 11 grandchildren: Kelly & Matthew Vienneau, William Kilgore, Shaun and Violet Wills, Ryan Wills, Kathryn, Daniel, Nina, Katherine, Tiana, Emily and Tessa Kilgore; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Gerathy was predeceased by his daughter, Kathleen Gerathy Wills; and granddaughter Brittany S. Wills; and two brothers, Joseph and Pierce Gerathy. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 24, 2004, at 1 p.m., in the Huntington Chapel, 177 Ripton Road, Shelton, with the Rev. Douglas Steeves officiating. If desired contributions in memory of Mr. Gerathy may be made to the Huntington Chapel or M.A.D.D., 2874 Main Street, Stratford, CT 06614. The Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton has been entrusted with arrangements.
