Glenn Chitwood Obituary
Glenn R. Chitwood, age 73, of Stratford, beloved husband of Nancy Heady Chitwood, died Thursday, May 30, 2019, at the West Haven Veterans Hospital. Mr. Chitwood was born in Bridgeport the son of the late Raymond and Edna (Byman) Chitwood. Glenn is a retired owner of a carpeting business. He was a very talented musician and a member of the Meadowbrook Garage Band. He was an avid golfer, a Nascar fan and a member of the color guard at Port 5. He was a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam war. In adddtion to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter Dana Chitwood and his siblings; Kirk, Jack, Gail and Rae Chitwood. He is survived by his wife Nancy and his daughter Brittany Chitwood and her partner Danielle Grasso and several nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to attend his Funeral on Tuesday at 10:00 am at the First Congregational Church, 2301 Main St., Stratford with the Rev. Edward Rawls Pastor officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Grove Cemetery in Bridgeport with full Military Honors. Friends may call on Monday at the Larson Funeral Home, 2496 North Ave., Bridgeport from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations maybe made to Home for the Brave, 655 Park Ave., Bridgeport, CT 06605. to my dear Nancy and Brittany....I am so sorry for your loss of your husband and father...i was a long distance friend for a long time, but we never ever skipped a beat!!during the last couple of weeks, Glenn and I spoke and texted some from bpt hospital and the vets hospital...he shared with me some tidbits of how he appreciated our friendship and that meant so much to me ...but even with the difficulty he had breathing at his last week, he made it very clear to me that you,Nancy were his angel , his rock, his everything...and Brittany, he was so looking forward to your face times and getting to see you...i hope you get some comfort in knowing how loved he was and how he loved you guys!!
