Gloria Ann Newbery, 78, of Winchester, Virginia died Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Newbery was born in 1938 in Milford, Connecticut, the daughter of the late David and Bertha Griffin. She graduated from Milford High School, Class of 1955. Gloria was employed in the banking industry for over twenty years working as a teller and eventually a branch manager. In later years she worked as a bookkeeper for the travel industry. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. She will be remembered for her love of her family, all animals especially her cats, her one of a kind sense of humor and her smile. She will be forever missed by all who knew and loved her.
Her husband, Arthur G. Newbery, Jr., whom she married on March 10, 1956, preceded her in death on July 21, 1988.
Mrs. Newbery was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Linda Lee Rodriguez, two sisters, Alice Sova and Rose Jeffries, and one brother, Norman Griffin.
Surviving are daughters, Theresa L. Newbery of Falls Church, Virginia, Barbara J. Newbery and her husband Wayne Marcey and Jacqueline A. Newbery both of Winchester, Virginia, Mary Beth Hubert of Bedford, Pennsylvania; granddaughter, Kendra M. Thomas and her husband Doug; grandsons, Steven W. Marcey, A. Brice Marcey, Angel A. Rodriguez and Daniel J. Rodriguez, Gabriel A. Rodriguez and his wife Elizabeth and Michael A. Newbery; great granddaughter, Ajia D. Newbery; three brothers, Harry, David and Robert Griffin of Connecticut as well as many extended family members and close friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
Graveside services will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
