Gordon Quincy Jonas, M.D. died on Monday March 6, 2017. He was a Fairfield, CT Obstetrician-Gynecologist from 1957 until he retired about 20 years ago. Dr. Jonas was born and raised in New York City. His parents were Irene Kahn Jonas and Joseph Quincy Jonas, an Obstetrician-Gynecologist practicing in New York City. He leaves his daughter Jennifer Jonas Stahr (John) of Scituate MA, six grandchildren – Gordon R. Jonas (Erica), Joseph D. Jonas, Daniel C. Jonas, Stephen Stahr, David Stahr and Alexandra Stahr – and his longtime friend Barbara Wexler of Ocala FL. He is pre-deceased by his son Gordon M. Jonas (surviving wife Cynthia), his son John A. Jonas and his granddaughter Tasha Q. Jonas.
Dr. Jonas graduated from Horace Mann High School in NYC, Yale University (1946) and NYU school of Medicine (1950). After post-graduate specialty training in the Bronx and at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Manhattan he served as a Captain in the Air Force and as Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Burtonwood Air Force Base in England from 1955 to 1957. In addition to his private practice in Fairfield he was medical director at Summit Medical Center in Bridgeport CT. He was an accomplished Bridge Player and had achieved Silver Life Master Status in the American Contract Bridge League. He was also a Charter Member and Past President of the Fairfield Kiwanis Club.
Dr. Jonas' interment will be at Maimonides-Elmont Cemetery in New York on March 20, 2017 at 1:00 PM.
