John Charters Obituary

John Rehmond Charters
John Rehmond Charters, age 81, of Hartford, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, July 16, 2023 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. John was born to the late Jack and Beatrice (Reh) Charters on September 9, 1941 in Bridgeport, CT. John graduated from Central High School in Bridgeport, Class of 1960, and was a graduate of Salem College, West Virginia, in 1966. He was a member of St. Patrick Church when he lived in Bridgeport. After moving to Hartford, John attended St Lawrence O'Toole Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and proudly defended their values of charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism. John was a Real Estate Broker and served as a Deputy Real Estate Commissioner for the State of Connecticut until his retirement. In retirement, he started a Real Estate School, where many of his students succeeded as Realtors due to John's instruction and encouragement. John was a proud member of The Hartford Club. He loved taking his family and friends there for a huge Thanksgiving feast, a special birthday, or just great drinks and conversation. He was devoted to his family. He loved family dinners and sharing old family recipes. He is going to be deeply missed. He is survived by his loving cousin Larry and his wife Carol Bourque of Shelton, CT, his adored niece Jody Bourque (Mike) of Milford, and nephew Corey Bourque of Shelton, his great-nephews Richard Bourque (Maddie) of Seymour, Kevin Bourque (Tasha) of Aurora, CO, Ryan Bourque of Shelton and great-niece Emily Bourque of Shelton, his great-great-nephew Aidan Bourque of Seymour, and his cousin John Aston (Andi) of Los Altos, California. We are going to miss him greatly and his famous Irish Coffee. He was predeceased by his parents Jack and Bea, his Uncle Chick Charters, his Aunt Louise Charters and his cousin Kenneth Charters. The funeral will be Wednesday, July 26, at 9:00 a.m. from the Redgate – Hennessy Funeral Home, 4 Gotham Place, Trumbull, CT, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m. in St. Patrick Church, 851 North Ave., Bridgeport, CT.
