John Sheahan Obituary

SHEAHAN John R. Sheahan, 76, resident of Milford for 46 years, beloved husband of June Williams Sheahan, died August 21, 2010 at The Connecticut Hospice in Branford. Son of the late John and Anna Mangan Sheahan, he was born March 23, 1934 in New York City. Mr. Sheahan was an electrical engineer with SNET for 30 years, retired. John was a faithful and good husband and father. He loved his family and liked to stay close to home. His death came after having received the last sacraments of the traditional Catholic Church and wearing the Scapular of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. This was a great consolation to his family and an answer to prayer. John started many religious devotions in his home, including having his whole family consecrate themselves to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and a small Christmas Eve Party in honor of the Divine Infant Jesus of Prague. He especially loved the Blessed Virgin Mary, wearing her Miraculous Medal most of his adult life. Besides his wife, he is survived by his seven loving children and their spouses: Renee Sacco and husband, Brian, John C. Sheahan and wife, Deborah, Chris Sheahan and wife, Rita, Robert Sheahan and wife, Corinne , Michael Sheahan and wife, Linda, Paul Sheahan and wife, Lisa and Mary Morris; 24 grandchildren, a loving sister, Joan Sheahan and three nephews and families. Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Wednesday at 9 a.m. from The Gregory F. Doyle Funeral Home, 291 Bridgeport Avenue, Milford and at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be announced. Friends may call on Tuesday 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that traditional Catholic Masses be offered for the repose of Mr. Sheahan's soul. Note when creating the obituary, we forgot to mention that my father was a veteran of the Korean War, having been stationed in Japan for 2 years as a Cryptographer.

My sincere condolences to the entire Sheahan family. Having John as a neighbor the last 7 years has been such a blessing. John did the best he could to look out for my family and me, just as if we were his own family! Though his health was failing, he helped us with yard work and the pool or just took the trash cans in and he always waived from the front door to me & my kids. Though I hadn't seen John in the front door recently, I was too busy with my own routines to realize. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family. I know that John is resting in peace. My girls and I will miss him very much.

Dear Sheahan Family, Our prayers are certainly with each of you . Not many men can meet the just Almighty God leaving behind such a beautiful, strong and Catholic family. You are surely blessed, even in this, your loss. We will pray for your father, that the good Lord welcomes him into the mansion He has prepared for him, and now lets him change his work place from these lands to those yonder hills, watching and protecting his family. For this is our faith, and this is what all your friends will admire in you .Hugh and Rita Dolan and Family
