John Zerjav, age 89, of Trumbull, beloved husband of, Barbara Svete Zerjav, passed away peacefully after an extended illness. John was born in, Ljubljana, Slovenia, on May 20, 1925 and immigrated to the United States in 1952. He met his wife, Barbara, through Holy Cross Church in Bridgeport, now located in Fairfield. He began working in the sheet metal department of Dictaphone in Bridgeport until he founded Vernier Metal Fabricating, currently located in Seymour. John enjoyed chess, sailing, gardening, and most importantly, spending time with his family vacationing in their New Hampshire Lake home. In addition to Barbara, his beloved wife of 61 years, John is survived by his three sons, John J. Zerjav, and his wife, Patricia, of Oxford, Edward Zerjav, and his fiancée, Maria Seeley, of Monroe, and Robert Zerjav, of Trumbull; grandchildren, Jennifer Zerjav, of Avon, Stacy Gallagher, and her husband, Mark, of Ayer, MA, Tammy Freer, and her husband, Wayne, of Oxford, Carly Zerjav, and her boyfriend, James Regan, of Hartford, Edward A. Zerjav, of Newtown, and his girlfriend, Marie Rizio, and Dylan Zerjav, of Monroe; great-grandchildren, Haley and Conner Gallagher and Brooke and Peyton Freer. Funeral services will be held privately in the care of the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center.
