Joseph Licamele Obituary

Joseph J. Licamele Jr.
Joseph John Licamele, Jr., 81, of Milford, beloved husband of Marie Phillips Licamele, passed away on October 31st, 2024. Born on July 4th, 1943, a true firecracker from Bridgeport, CT, he was the son of the late Joseph and Angelina (DeMonte) Licamele.
Joe, a proud graduate of Central Connecticut State University, went on to earn his Masters and Sixth year, proving that he was a lifelong learner. He dedicated 33 years to the Bridgeport School System as a teacher and administrator, shaping young minds and probably giving a few gray hairs to his colleagues.
When Joe wasn't in the classroom, you could find him on the golf course, perfecting his swing and enjoying a round with friends. He was also a Blackjack enthusiast, often sharing his winnings (and sometimes his losses) with his beloved Marie. He was fiercely protective of his family, always putting their safety and well-being above all else. Joe had a passion for travel, especially the many trips with his family and Punta Cana with Marie, where they soaked up the sun and made unforgettable memories.
Joe leaves behind two daughters, Lisa (Michael) Wywoda and Laura (Brian) Kozielski, who will forever cherish his sense of humor and loving nature. Papa Joe, also known as Joey, was adored by his six grandchildren: Ava Kozielski, Rachel Wywoda, Ella Kozielski, Demi Kozielski, Jaden Wywoda, and Declan Wywoda.
Joe is survived by his sister, JoAnne Collins, and several nieces and nephews who will always remember his warm smile and kind heart. Joe's legacy of love, laughter, and a little bit of luck at the Blackjack table will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, November 8th, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street, Milford. A service will be celebrated at Cody-White at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research at https://www.michaeljfox.org.

I would like to tell you that I am sorry for your great loss. Mr. Licamele was one ofy favorite teachers in 8th grade at East Side Middle School. He was very kind and a great educator! I struggled in my personal life during school, but he always made coming to school a pleasure! I'm 58 years old and I remember him. I don't have many memories of my childhood, so saying he made a difference to his kids would be an understatement. I wanted you to know that even 46 years later, people still remember... May you cherish your memories and may you find peace in knowing how very much he cared for not just his family, but little girls and boys who struggled and gave them hope for better days. God bless you all! IJN Amen Desarae Desabris

My sincere condolences to the Licamele family. Mr. Licamele was my 7th grade English teacher at MultiCultural Magnet School and his influence had a profound effect on my life. He inspired me to follow my dream to become a golf professional. As you could imagine, golf wasn´t the most popular of sports for an inner city kid, but whenever I wanted to talk golf or anything else Mr. Licamele was always there. As I grew up and got myself into the golf profession I always tried to keep in touch. His guidance and encouragement played a huge role in me getting out of the city to pursue my passion. He was a very special person and will truly be missed.

My sincere condolences to Marie and Family. I was a teacher with Joe at East Side Middle School for many years. Joe was a warm caring person, always happy to see you with a smile and handshake. I also used to meet Joe for breakfast on Saturday mornings when he worked for Monaco Schools. I have many fond memories of Joe that I will cherish always. God Bless him in Heaven. Greg Pacific
