To the Marzulli family, I had the privilege of playing under Joe Marzulli's direction for a couple of summers during the late '60's with many of the Central High School musicians. Although I was not a student at CHS, I was very happy to had been involved in the several performances which proved to be fruitful in both my musical development and experiences for the future. I remember Joe Marzulli as being an inspiration to many who pursued music seriously and I join my fellow musicians who knew him with deepest sympathy to his family and friends. Fred Scerbo

I wish to express my deepest sympothy to Joe Marzulli's family. Joe was not only my music director at Central High School from 1972 to 1975, but my mentor. His hard work and dedication to the kids in the music program was second to none! Summer band camp at Central was a tremendous memory for me. We worked hard, but also played hard and had fun! We often took time out of our day to play softball. It was not unusual to see Joe step to the plate, yelling comments to the pitcher, and then on the next pitch slam a home run into the parking lot! He also spent a great deal of time after hours with many students in both the Univ. of Bpt and Sacred Heart jazz band programs of which I participated. He was also committed to keeping the music alive for alumni students when he successfully created the Bpt Alumni Band for several years. Joe took me under his wing while I was in high school and spent a great deal of time with me giving me invaluable private lessons at his home. Back then, Joe's sons Chris and Jamie were very young. Joe would often chase them out of the laundry room, which is where we would practice. When we look back at our lives, there are truely only a few people that help set a path for us or have the ability to have an impact on our lives, Joe was certainly one of those exceptional impact people for me in my life. He will certainly be missed!!

Dear family of Mr. Marzulli. I am a graduate of the class of 1970 Central High School and a band member. Mr Marzulli always encouraged me to continue with my music and trumpet playing. Many times I have spoke and thought about those years and how he was an inspiration and mentor to me about music and the dicipline involved in becoming a professional musician and educator. I now teach music in the West Hartford system. Without his guidance through my high school years, it would have been much more difficult for me and much less meaningful.
We had a lot of fun in school, took several band trips and played a lot of great music.
I will always remember him and he will always have a special place in my musical heart.
Sincerley, Richard Alfonso
